Our equipment
Putting together cycling travel equipment can be overwhelming. We did a lot of research, compared many products and invested around €7000 for all of our equipment. Our aim was to carry the essentials but also have the luxury of documenting our journey with the latest technology. After careful consideration, we returned some items as they turned out to be unnecessary or we found better alternatives.
Bicycles
When planning our trip around the world, we quickly realised that we needed bikes that could cope with the demands of long distances, heavy luggage and varied terrain. After thorough research and test rides on similar bikes, we decided in favour of the VSF TX-400 decided. The robust steel-frame expedition bike offers a durable construction and is equipped ready to travel with pannier racks, bag holders, bottle holders, a Busch & Müller lighting system, Schwalbe Marathon tyres and much more. The high-quality Shimano Deore XT component group with 30 gears and the reliable Magura HS33 rim brakes make the TX-400 the perfect choice for adventurers like us.

Panniers are standard equipment for many cyclists. If you look around, you will see many cyclists using panniers. These bags are indispensable for cycle travellers. As we stow virtually all our "belongings" in them, it was particularly important to us that the bags are durable, robust and waterproof.

Our kitchen equipment is deliberately kept minimalist. We have the flexibility to cook with spirit, gas or even petrol. Whether we opt for a simple pasta dish or roast potatoes, our equipment allows us to prepare a variety of meals on the go.

Our camping equipment is designed for a comfort temperature of around 0°C. Our tent, which we affectionately call our "palace", offers enough space for our sleeping mat and our panniers. For extra sleeping comfort, we have purchased high-quality sleeping bags to keep us cosy and warm in all weathers and ensure they last a long time. A special feature of our sleeping bags is that they can be zipped together to form one large sleeping bag, so we can snuggle up together like penguins.

Of course, electronics are also a must these days. This includes devices that can store or generate electricity. To produce videos for you, we also need appropriate devices and accessories for filming and editing. We also need to navigate from time to time and want to track our routes.

Although theoretically everything on our bike could break, unfortunately we can't take a complete workshop with us. For reasons of space and weight, we have to choose our tools and spare parts carefully. Nevertheless, we have a few tools and spare parts with us that we expect to need frequently. If we are short of something while travelling, we hope that a nearby workshop will be able to help us out or that we can have spare parts sent to us.
